A Lunar Ritual

A Lunar Invocation.
The casting off of illusion and the rebirth of one’s self.

The Opening:

  1. Thee I invoke, the Bornless One.
  2. Thee, that didst create the Earth and the Heavens.
  3. Thee, that didst create the Night and the Day.
  4. Thee, that didst create the darkness and the Light.
  5. Thou art ASAR UN-NEFER ("Myself made Perfect"):
Whom no man hath seen at any time.
  6. Thou art IA-BESZ ("the Truth in Matter").
  7. Thou art IA-APOPHRASZ ("the Truth in Motion").
  8. Thou hast distinguished between the Just and the Unjust.
  9. Thou didst make the Female and the Male.
  10. Thou didst produce the Seeds and the Fruit.
  11. Thou didst form Men to love one another, and to hate one another.

Hear me, and make all Spirits subject unto Me; so that every Spirit of the Firmament and of the Ether: upon the Earth and under the Earth, on dry land and in the water; of Whirling Air, and of rushing Fire, and every Spell and Scourge of God may be obedient unto Me.

Meditation: Picture the Moon Card from the Tarot.

Picture walking a long dark path towards the rising full moon. “The path is guarded by Tabu. She is uncleanliness and sorcery. Upon the hills are black towers of nameless mystery, of horror and of fear. All prejudice, all superstition, dead tradition and ancestral loathing. All combine to darken her face before the eyes of men.”  (The Book of Thoth) The full moon rises from the Earth between two tall dark mountains. Drops of blood are dripping from the moon. Beneath this the sacred Kephra beetle bears in his mandibles the Sacred Sun in his silence through the darkness of the night and the bitterness of Winter.

Outside of the mandibles of the Kephra beetle lie deception and false illusions holding power over you. Picture those falsehoods.

Walk to the altar:

Gaze upon the symbols. Place your hand upon the Kephra beetle and picture those with false power over you being destroyed and their power broken saying:

18. By her spells she invoked the Scarab, the Lord Kheph-Ra, so that the waters were cloven
and the illusion of the powers was destroyed.    Liber CCXXXI

Drink cup of wine representing the blood of the Moon.

Closing:
After all have done so all say together:

Hail unto thee who art Khephra in Thy hiding, even unto Thee who art Khephra in Thy silence, who travellest over the heavens in thy bark at the Midnight Hour of the Sun. Tahuti standeth in His splendour at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the helm. Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Evening. -Liber Resh
